Christmas Tree Clips

Christmas tree clips, also called fir tree or X-tree clips, have a ribbed stem that grips the hole on its own. There is no separate pin. They hold door cards, kick panels, boot linings, bonnet insulation, carpet trims and wiring looms. We stock them in black, white, grey and brown, in make-specific and general styles.

Choosing a tree clip

  • Head diameter: wide heads suit soft trim and insulation; small heads suit hard panels.
  • Stem length: long-shaft clips reach through thick trim and backing boards.
  • Stem width: match it to the hole so the ribs can grip.
  • Colour: pick the colour that matches the trim if the head is on show.

Removal tools

A forked trim tool slides under the head and lifts the clip straight up. We sell trim removal tool kits too. See trim removal tools.

Common questions

Why do tree clips break when I take a panel off?

Old plastic gets brittle, and pulling at an angle snaps the stem. Lift close to each clip, straight up, a little at a time.

Is a Christmas tree clip the same as a trim retainer?

They overlap. Our trim retainer clips range has more wide-head and push-pin retainers.
